Tinubu condemns Borno abductions, urges Nigerians to resist fear

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has condemned the recent terrorist attack and mass abductions in Ngoshe community, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, and urged Nigerians not to give in to fear. He directed the Armed Forces and other security agencies to urgently rescue all those abducted during the assault, which was carried out by suspected Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists. The attack left several people dead and many others kidnapped shortly after residents had broken their fast on Wednesday evening. Troops rescue six kidnapped victims in Kogi

Troops of the Nigerian Army, working with other security agencies, have rescued six kidnap victims during a joint operation in Kogi State.​ The operation was carried out around the Osara–Okene axis after security forces received credible intelligence on the movement and location of the kidnappers and their hostages.​ Acting on the information, the troops and other security personnel launched a coordinated raid on the criminals’ hideout, engaging the suspects and forcing them to abandon the captives and flee into the surrounding forest.​ All six victims were rescued alive and taken into safety, where they received medical checks and counselling before being reunited with their families.​ The security agencies vowed to sustain the offensive against criminal gangs operating in Kogi and neighbouring states, calling on residents to continue sharing timely information to support ongoing operations.​

Over 800 Dead as Strong Earthquake Hits Afghanistan

Rescue efforts are underway in Afghanistan after a powerful earthquake and several aftershocks struck late Sunday night, killing more than 800 people and injuring thousands, according to Taliban authorities. The 6.0-magnitude quake hit just before midnight, with tremors felt as far away as Kabul and Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad.
