Zamfara Mining Pit Collapse Traps Several Miners
The Zamfara State Emergency Management Agency (ZSEMA) has confirmed the collapse of mining pits in Kadauri community, Maru Local Government Area, trapping several artisanal miners. The incident occurred late Thursday night after heavy rainfall in the area, which weakened the soil and caused the pits to cave in. ZSEMA’s Executive Secretary, Amb. Bala Ahmad, told reporters in Gusau on Friday that he was in a meeting with stakeholders to assess the situation and would provide more details later.
