Actress and filmmaker Mary Njoku has questioned why many impressive CVs do not translate into successful hires, despite companies constantly complaining about the struggle to find good employees. In an Instagram post, she said she is “genuinely confused” because every day she sees people without jobs, solid CVs on paper and employers still unable to get the right talent.​ Njoku argued that CVs have quietly turned into “marketing documents” rather than honest reflections of what people can actually do. Nigerian Army Short Service Recruitment Ends November 12

The Nigerian Army has announced that applications for the Short Service Combatant Course 49/2026 will close at midnight on Tuesday, November 12. The online application portal, which opened on October 9, has so far received tens of thousands of entries. According to Colonel Aminu Bello, Acting Director of Army Public Relations, the number of valid submissions is expected to surpass last year’s 48,000 applications. The Short Service Combatant Course provides an entry route for civilians into the military through an intensive 44-week training programme at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in Jaji, Kaduna State. Tunji-Ojo orders urgent fix as CDCFIB recruitment portal malfunctions

The Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has ordered the immediate resolution of technical glitches affecting the recruitment portal of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB). The directive follows widespread complaints from applicants who have been unable to access the portal to verify their recruitment status. In a statement on Saturday, the minister said he had directed the board’s secretary to ensure that all uploads and system updates were completed without delay. “Following recent complaints from applicants into the paramilitary agencies who are still unable to determine their fate due to the ongoing upload of information, I have directed the Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board to ensure that all uploads are completed immediately,” Tunji-Ojo said. NUC begins nationwide recruitment, opens application portal

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has launched a nationwide recruitment drive to fill vacancies at its headquarters in Abuja. In a notice issued on Friday, the Commission invited qualified Nigerians to apply for positions across its officer cadre, confidential secretary roles, and clerical or auxiliary staff categories. “The recruitment exercise is open to all eligible Nigerians who meet the advertised requirements. Applications are free of charge and must be submitted through the official careers portal,” the NUC stated. Applicants are to visit careers.nuc.edu.ng or nuc.edu.ng for detailed guidelines. Sam George Authorizes Termination of About 100 Ghana Post Staff

Samuel Nartey George, Ghana's Minister for Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations, has authorized the termination of nearly 100 staff members at Ghana Post due to irregularities in their recruitment process. This decision is part of an ongoing rationalization effort aimed at improving the efficiency of the ministry and its agencies.In a statement to the press, Minister George highlighted the challenges he faced when taking office, including an inflated workforce. He noted that of the 3,117 staff members in the ministry and its agencies, 600 were hired after the December 7, 2024 elections, which he described as a problematic period for recruitment.The terminations specifically target the staff recruited after the elections. Minister George assured that this rationalization process would continue to ensure accountability and improved efficiency in the sector.
