8 Dead, Several Injured in Fatal Akyem Boadua Road Accident

A tragic accident on the Akyem Boadua road in the Eastern Region has left eight people dead and six others injured.The crash occurred in the early hours of Friday, March 7, 2025, when a vehicle traveling from Kade to Accra lost control and somersaulted due to high speed and poor visibility caused by the bushy road.Five passengers died on the spot, while three others succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. The driver, who ignored passengers’ pleas to slow down, fled the scene after the accident.Authorities are investigating the incident, and road safety officials continue to warn against reckless driving to curb rising accidents.

Rising Road Accidents Claim Over 10 Lives in Oti Region.

The Oti Region recorded 41 road crashes between January and September 2024, involving 53 vehicles, including 20 commercial vehicles, 10 private cars, and 23 motorcycles. These incidents resulted in 10 deaths and 78 injuries, a marked increase from the previous year.According to Ms. Theresa Agyeman, Acting Regional Head of the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA), speeding and wrongful overtaking, particularly by motorcyclists, were key contributors to the rise in accidents. Motorcycles were involved in 43.4% of crashes, followed by commercial vehicles at 37.74%, and private vehicles at 18.87%.August saw the highest number of crashes with eight, while April and July recorded the highest fatalities, with three deaths each. Bishop Salifu Amoako’s son gets six-month sentence.

A 16-year-old boy has been sentenced to six months at a Senior Correctional Centre after causing a tragic accident in East Legon that claimed the lives of two young girls. The boy, the son of Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako, founder of Alive Chapel International, was driving his mother’s Jaguar F-Pace Sport without a license when he lost control during a convoy of friends. The crash resulted in a violent collision with another vehicle, which led to a fire. The boy, who initially denied the charges, later pleaded guilty to manslaughter, dangerous driving, and more. The court also fined his parents GH₵12,000 for negligence and ordered Bishop Amoako to pay for the damages caused.
