Police Arrest Suspected Cultist for Rape Attempt in Akwa Ibom
The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested a notorious cultist and armed robbery suspect, Happiness Alphonsus Iseyen, for allegedly attempting to defile a teenager. The 26-year-old suspect, a resident of Ini Local Government Area, was apprehended on August 28, 2025, following a tip-off from a concerned citizen. According to the police spokesperson, DSP Timfon John, detectives acted swiftly after receiving information on August 27, 2025. The suspect was tracked down and arrested around 1:40 PM. During a search, a locally-fabricated gun with one live cartridge was recovered from Iseyen's possession. In addition to the defilement charge, the suspect is also linked to a series of armed robbery incidents.
