NASASU Condemns Political Interference in National Service Authority Operations

In a statement dated April 11, 2025, and signed by NASASU Chairman Ayirebi Adubofour, the National Service Staff Union (NASASU) raised concerns about increasing political interference in the National Service Authority’s (NSA) operations—especially when it comes to hiring and staff transfers. The Union said this kind of interference weakens democratic values, damages public trust, and threatens the credibility of state institutions. “We strongly condemn the actions of political party supporters trying to take control of the National Service Authority. It goes against democracy and damages the trust and fairness of our national systems,” the statement said. Angry Youth Demand Exit of Former Government Appointees in Tema.

A group of irate youth stormed several public institutions in Tema on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, demanding the immediate resignation of appointees from the previous administration. The protesters, dressed in red, targeted key establishments, including TDC Ghana Ltd, Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), and Volta Aluminium Company Limited (VALCO).Speaking to journalists, one of the protesters, Kwame Dankwa, stated their grievance: “We do not want any appointee of the previous administration to remain in office.” The group reportedly locked some offices during their protest, creating tension among employees.Although the protest caused some workers to flee, the Tema Regional Police intervened promptly, preventing violence and ensuring no physical assaults occurred.
