Korle Bu Laboratory Workers Begin Strike, Full Shutdown Planned

Medical laboratory professionals at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital have commenced a phased industrial action that could severely disrupt healthcare delivery at Ghana’s largest referral facility, with a complete shutdown of laboratory services expected next week. The Regional Environmental Health Office in the Oti Region has launched a major sanitation campaign to combat the rise in typhoid fever cases, which has already led to the arrest of more than six individuals in Dambai for open defecation. The operation, led by Regional Environmental Health Officer Cynthia Sekyere, reflects the region’s commitment to improving sanitation and protecting public health. 500,000 Ghanaians living with HIV – Ghana AIDS Commission urges safe practices

The Ghana AIDS Commission has revealed that over 500,000 people in Ghana are currently living with HIV/AIDS, emphasizing the ongoing challenge the country faces in fighting the disease. According to the Commission, the national HIV prevalence rate stands at approximately 1.7%, with regional disparities. The Eastern Region records the highest rates, while the northern parts of the country report the lowest.
