Thailand, Cambodia agree border ceasefire after weeks of clashes
Thailand and Cambodia have signed a ceasefire deal to end weeks of armed clashes along their shared border over disputed territory. The agreement, which took effect at noon local time, aims to halt hostilities and calm tensions in the area. Under the terms, both countries have pledged to stop all fighting, avoid new military movements and refrain from violating each other’s airspace for military purposes. The measures are intended to prevent fresh flare ups while political and military dialogue continues. The ceasefire also requires Thailand to repatriate 18 Cambodian soldiers captured in earlier fighting in July once the truce has held for 72 hours.
