Ghana Launches Nationwide Monitoring for 100th LEAP Payment Cycle

The Government of Ghana, through the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP), has rolled out a nationwide monitoring exercise to supervise the 100th payment cycle of the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) programme. The exercise, which began last week, is taking place across all 16 regions to confirm that cash transfers are reaching the right beneficiaries without delays or irregularities. Strengthening Transparency and Service Delivery Monitoring teams drawn from the Ministry and partner institutions are visiting selected payment centres nationwide. Their role is to oversee the disbursement process, engage directly with beneficiaries, and gather first-hand feedback on how the payments are being handled. EU Injects $6.35m Into Niger Delta Youth, Vulnerable Training – Common Ground

The European Union (EU) has committed $6.35 million to empower youths and vulnerable groups in the Niger Delta with entrepreneurship and business development training, in a bid to reduce poverty and insecurity in the region. The initiative, announced by Chorbe Joshua Gonlur, Consortium Manager for Search for Common Ground, was unveiled at the Social Media Listening Report validation meeting in Asaba, Delta State. According to Gonlur, 794 individuals drawn from Rivers, Bayelsa, and Delta States will benefit from the programme. Of this number, 595 participants are under the Search for Common Ground project, while 200 beneficiaries are selected through the Stakeholder Democracy Network (SDN). Green Growth Ghana Project Empowers Women and Youth in Upper west Region.

The Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI), in partnership with Presbyterian University Ghana and the EU Delegation in Ghana, launched the "Green Growth Ghana Project" in Wa on October 9, 2024. The initiative is aimed at economically empowering women and youth in the Northern Savannah Regions through the green and circular economy. The project focuses on training and supporting small-scale enterprises in agro-forestry and environmentally sustainable business practices. It aligns with several UN Sustainable Development Goals, including gender equality and climate action.
