INEC Rejects PDP’s NEC Meeting Notice as Tinubu Commits to Electoral Autonomy
INEC Slams PDP Over Improper NEC Meeting Notice The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has rejected the PDP’s notice for its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting due to a procedural error . A letter from INEC, dated June 13, 2025 , and signed by acting secretary Haliru Aminu , said the notice failed to meet guidelines set out in Part 2(12)3 of the 2022 Regulations and Guidelines for Political Parties . According to the commission, such notices must be jointly signed by the party’s national chairman and national secretary before submission. “The notice was not properly signed,” INEC stated.“Please refer to the regulation and resubmit accordingly.” A copy of the letter was seen by Leadership newspaper.
