Court sets March 24 ruling on suit to deregister ADC, Accord, others

A Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed March 24 for its ruling on a suit seeking to compel the Independent National Electoral Commission to deregister four political parties over alleged failure to meet constitutional requirements.​ The case, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/2637/25, was filed by the Incorporated Trustees of the National Forum of Former Legislators, with INEC, the Attorney-General of the Federation, the African Democratic Congress, Accord Party, Zenith Labour Party and Action Alliance listed as defendants. INEC moves ward level voter registration for 2027 polls

The Independent National Electoral Commission in Lagos says it will move its Continuous Voter Registration from local government offices to wards on a rotational basis ahead of the 2027 elections. Lagos Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof Ayobami Salami, told stakeholders at a meeting on the second phase of the CVR that the plan is to reduce voter apathy and make registration easier for eligible residents. He said CVR remains one of INEC’s most important duties because it allows Nigerians to register, transfer their registration, correct details and replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards.
