Police Use Teargas to Disperse Factions at PDP Headquarters
There was confusion at the Peoples Democratic Party national headquarters in Abuja after police used teargas to disperse supporters of rival factions. The incident happened on Tuesday as two rival groups were set to hold separate meetings at the party’s Wadata Plaza. One group was loyal to Nyesom Wike, while the other supported the newly formed National Working Committee led by Kabiru Turaki. Tensions rose when Samuel Anyanwu, secretary of the Wike-aligned bloc, arrived with supporters for Board of Trustees and National Executive Committee meetings.
