Four Nigerians, Others Jailed 55 Years Over London Phone Robbery Spree

Four Nigerians—David Akintola, Ayomide Olaribiro, Olabiyi Obasa, and David Okewole—alongside six other accomplices were sentenced to a combined 55 years at Kingston Crown Court for a violent robbery spree targeting mobile phone shops, mostly EE outlets, across London and the UK. Between September and November 2024, the gang carried out 13 coordinated robberies, stealing £240,000 worth of phones and devices. They threatened staff to open secure stock rooms. The group was arrested after police traced DNA, call data, and vehicle records, catching four in the act in Kilburn. Sentences ranged from three to ten years for conspiracy to rob and attempted robbery, with most suspects pleading guilty. The Metropolitan Police recovered stolen devices and linked the suspects directly to the crimes through forensic evidence. The case underscores law enforcement successes against organized retail crime in London.
