Owerri Catholic Bishops decry hardship, demand better welfare

Catholic Bishops of the Owerri Ecclesiastical Province have raised concern over the soaring prices of goods and essential commodities, warning that life is becoming increasingly unaffordable for ordinary Nigerians. In a communiqué issued after a two day meeting in Owerri, they said economic instability is worsening hardship for families, workers and pensioners.​ The bishops noted that the rising cost of living is forcing children out of school, increasing dependency and discouraging young entrepreneurs and artisans from starting businesses.
