ADC Crisis: Nafiu Bala Declares Self Authentic Chairman
The leadership tussle within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has deepened as Deputy National Chairman, Nafiu Bala, formally assumed office as the party’s National Chairman, rejecting the authority of former Senate President David Mark. Bala argued that both the Electoral Act and the ADC constitution empower him to succeed the former chairman, Ralph Nwosu, who resigned earlier this year after the party joined an opposition coalition. The coalition later announced Mark as Interim National Chairman. In an interview with The Guardian, Bala accused coalition leaders of attempting to hijack the ADC. “Our former National Chairman voluntarily resigned, and our constitution clearly outlines the transfer of power.
