One killed as gunmen kidnap retired customs officer in Osun community

Gunmen on Monday night stormed Ora Igbomina, a border community in Ifedayo Local Government Area of Osun State, and abducted a retired customs officer from his residence. The attack threw the community into panic as residents fled for safety while the assailants operated.​ The victim, identified as Prince Emmanuel Owolabi, was reportedly seized at his house on Akisa Road, Ora, shortly before 7 p.m. Local sources said the attackers had laid an ambush around his home and pounced on him as he returned.​ High Chief Sunday Fadipe, the Inurin of Ora-Igbomina, said the armed men headed straight to the former customs officer’s residence once they arrived in the town. Osun Civil Servants Lament 14-Year Delay in Federal Secretariat Project

Federal civil servants in Osun State have expressed frustration over the prolonged delay in completing the federal secretariat project, 14 years after it was first awarded. The project, located at Oke-Bale along Ibokun Road in Osogbo, was awarded in 2011 and initially scheduled for completion in 2014. However, the building remains unfinished nearly a decade later. Oyo Govt, UNICEF Push for Stronger Prosecution of FGM Cases

The Oyo State Government, in collaboration with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), has called for stronger prosecution of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) cases across Edo, Ekiti, Ondo, Osun, and Oyo States. The demand was made at a 3-day Multi-sectoral Engagement meeting in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, which brought together law enforcement officers, judicial actors, NGOs, agencies, and religious leaders. The forum focused on improving justice responses and promoting survivor-centered approaches in tackling FGM.
