Southwest in Joint Moves to Prevent Terrorists’ Incursion into Region
In a landmark move, Southwest governors have launched a joint strategy to prevent terrorist incursion, agreeing to establish a regional security fund, a digital intelligence-sharing platform, and reinforce forest surveillance. State leaders also called for stricter regulation of inter-state migration and action against illegal mining, while reiterating support for state police. At a crucial summit in Ibadan led by Governor Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Makinde (Oyo), Abiodun (Ogun), Aiyedatiwa (Ondo), Oyebanji (Ekiti), and Adeleke’s deputy (Osun), the governors resolved to set up a South West Security Fund (SWSF) under the DAWN Commission, and a live digital security communication channel linking all six states for coordinated rapid response.
