Team Nigeria Claims Gold in Wrestling, Athletics at Riyadh 2025
Team Nigeria has boosted its gold medal tally at the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, winning golds in the 53kg freestyle wrestling event (Christiana Ogunsanya) and the women’s 4x100m relay (Bada Toyin, Ezechukwu Miracle, Omokwe Maria, and Nweke Cynthia with a time of 44.27 seconds). Other highlights include silver medals in the women’s 400m (Patience George) and wrestling (Miesinnei Genesis), and bronzes in men’s javelin (Kure Adams), men’s 400m (Badmus Atanda), and men’s 4x100m relay. Team Nigeria’s current medal count stands at 8 gold, 10 silver, and 7 bronze, with more expected from para-athletics. National Sports Commission officials praised the athletes’ resilience and promised continued investment in Nigerian sports.
