Northern business icon and statesman, Isiaku Ibrahim, passes away at 88

Elder statesman and prominent businessman, Alhaji Isiaku Ibrahim, has died at the age of 88. The Nasarawa-born politician passed away in the early hours of Saturday at a private hospital in Abuja. A close associate of late President Shehu Shagari, Ibrahim played a pivotal role in the formation of the National Party of Nigeria (NPN), the ruling party during the Second Republic. He was widely respected for his contributions to politics, business, and sports development. In the 1970s, Ibrahim founded the Mighty Jets Football Club of Jos, becoming the first Nigerian to hire a foreign coach from Brazil to lead a local team.
