Troops kill five terrorists, rescue three abducted children in Borno

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have neutralised five terrorists and rescued three abducted children in separate operations carried out in Borno State. The Joint Task Force said the operations took place between February 20 and 21 as part of ongoing efforts to crush insurgent groups in the North East. Spokesman for Operation Hadin Kai, Lieutenant Colonel Sanni Uba, said troops on fighting patrol made contact with suspected JAS and ISWAP members around Sabsawa village. The soldiers opened fire and forced the terrorists to flee, and later found five of them dead during a follow up search. Troops kill Boko Haram commander in Borno, recover nearly N40m cash

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have killed a Boko Haram commander and recovered almost N40 million in cash during an operation in Borno State. The Nigerian Army said the troops intercepted a suspicious vehicle believed to be moving funds for the terror group in the north east. According to military sources, the operation followed credible intelligence that insurgents were relocating large sums of money meant for logistics, recruitment and the purchase of weapons. When soldiers attempted to stop the vehicle, the occupants opened fire, leading to a gun battle in which the Boko Haram commander and some of his escorts were neutralised. ISWAP second in command killed as military steps up Sambisa offensive

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have killed Abu Khalid, the reported second in command of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), during a major night offensive in the Sambisa Forest area of Borno State.​ The operation, launched around 11:00 p.m. on Saturday in the Komala general area of Konduga Local Government Area, also resulted in the elimination of at least 10 other fighters linked to the terror group. A military source described Abu Khalid as a key figure in the insurgent hierarchy, responsible for coordinating operations and logistics across the Sambisa axis.​ The latest success came less than 24 hours after troops neutralised another top ISWAP commander, Julaibib, during a fierce battle around Kimba in Damboa Local Government Area.
