Troops quell communal violence, neutralise four militias in Taraba
Nigerian security forces have put down a fresh outbreak of communal violence in Taraba State, neutralising four armed militias in a decisive operation. The troops moved in after clashes erupted between rival groups in one of the state’s flashpoint communities, preventing what officials say could have been a far more devastating escalation. According to security sources, the operation combined ground troops with intelligence-led raids on suspected militia hideouts. Weapons were recovered and several suspects were arrested as soldiers fanned out across the area to stop reprisals and reopen key roads.
