BRICS: UAE Names South Africa 2nd-Largest African Trade Partner
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has identified South Africa as its second-largest non-oil trade partner in Africa, with bilateral trade continuing to expand under BRICS economic cooperation. During a meeting with the South African Business Council in the UAE, Minister of Foreign Trade Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi highlighted the strong momentum in trade, investment, and private sector collaboration between the two countries. According to Emirates News Agency (WAM), non-oil trade between the UAE and South Africa reached $8.5 billion in 2024, a 14% increase compared to 2023 and a 120% rise since 2019. In the first half of 2025, bilateral non-oil trade stood at $3.93 billion.
