NLNG crowned overall champions at 20th Oil and Gas Industry Games

Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) has emerged overall champion at the 20th Nigeria Oil and Gas Industry Games (NOGIG), finishing top of the final medals table. Team NLNG won a total of 52 medals, made up of 20 gold, 16 silver and 16 bronze, to edge out defending champions Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd). NNPC Ltd placed second with 49 medals, including 14 gold, 15 silver and 20 bronze. The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) finished third after winning 18 medals, among them five gold and eight silver. TotalEnergies took fourth place with 15 medals, consisting of five gold and 10 bronze. Other strong performers included Renaissance, Oando, Seplat Energy, Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) and ND Western, which completed the top 10 on the table. Nigeria Secures $2bn Shell Gas Investment for HI Field

Nigeria has secured a $2 billion gas investment from global energy giant Shell for the development of the HI Field, a shallow offshore non-associated gas project located in OML 144. This was announced in a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, on Tuesday in Abuja. According to the Presidency, the project is expected to produce about 350 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (mmscf/d) from 2028. It represents Nigeria’s second major gas investment in 18 months, reflecting growing global confidence in the country’s energy sector under President Tinubu. With this new project, total upstream investment commitments through Final Investment Decisions (FIDs) have now exceeded $8 billion since Tinubu took office in 2023. LPG Retailers Not to Blame for Gas Price Hike, Says LPGAR

The Liquefied Petroleum Gas Retailers Association of Nigeria (LPGAR) has said that gas retailers are not responsible for the current increase in the price and scarcity of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), also known as cooking gas. In a statement issued on Saturday in Lagos, the Chairman of LPGAR under the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), Mr. Ayobami Olarinoye, said the rising cost of LPG is caused by supply challenges, not manipulation by retailers. “The recent scarcity and price spike have brought hardship to many Nigerian homes and businesses. We understand this pain, but retailers should not be blamed,” Olarinoye said.
