Fire razes shops in Anambra market
An early morning fire has destroyed several shops and goods worth millions of naira at a market in Enugu-Ukwu, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State. The blaze occurred around Nkwo Enugu-Ukwu market in the early hours of Friday, leaving affected traders counting their losses. Eyewitnesses said the fire started before dawn and quickly spread through a block of adjoining shops. Many traders were not on site when it broke out, giving them little chance to salvage their wares. Preliminary reports from officials linked the incident to an electrical surge. Residents said they noticed sparks and smoke shortly before the flames intensified and engulfed the affected stalls.
