Man dies after falling from moving train in Abia

A yet-to-be-identified man has died after falling from a moving train at Uratta in Aba, Abia State, along the Enugu–Port Harcourt railway corridor. Witnesses said the victim fell from the train while it was in motion and landed by the track, where he died before help could reach him.​ The incident involved a Nigerian Railway Corporation passenger service running between Aba and Port Harcourt. Passengers and bystanders were thrown into panic as the train continued its journey after the fall. NRC Confirms Agbor Train Derailment, Says All Passengers Safe

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has confirmed the derailment of a Warri–Itakpe passenger train near Agbor on Saturday evening, assuring that all passengers on board were safe and no injuries were recorded. In a statement released on Sunday, NRC Managing Director, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, said preliminary investigations indicate that the derailment—which occurred around 7:30 p.m. at Kilometer 212+8m—may have been caused by suspected track vandalism. The incident affected two out of seven coaches of the Warri–Itakpe Train Service (WITS). “We are pleased to confirm that all passengers on board were safely evacuated to Agbor, and everyone has been fully accounted for.
