Maduro offers talks as US signals openness to serious dialogue
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has offered an “olive branch” to U.S. President Donald Trump, proposing serious talks on issues including drug trafficking, migration and sanctions after months of post election tension and fresh U.S. pressure on Caracas.Speaking at a military event, Maduro said he was ready for direct dialogue “with respect and equality” and suggested both countries could work together on security and economic matters if Washington eased what he called “criminal” sanctions on Venezuela’s oil sector.
