Group Launches Campaign to Raise ₦100bn for Military Families

A non-governmental organization, the Defend Trust Fund Campaign, has launched an initiative to raise ₦100 billion for the welfare of Nigerian military and paramilitary families. The fund aims to provide scholarships, entrepreneurship grants, vocational training, and psychosocial support to the spouses and children of personnel who are serving or have died in the line of duty. The campaign plans to collect 100,000 citizen signatures to push for the establishment of this national endowment. Lead Advocate Mohammed Thompson stated that the initiative is designed to "restore dignity and hope" to families who often face hardship and neglect after losing their breadwinners. NGO Gives School Supplies to Nearly 22,000 Katsina Pupils

A non-governmental organisation, Goalprime Organisation Nigeria, has given learning materials to 21,959 pupils in Musawa Local Government Area of Katsina State. The project, funded by Education Cannot Wait and done with Save the Children, reached 15,371 pupils in 12 formal schools and 6,588 pupils in informal learning centres. Items shared included school bags, exercise books, mats, rulers, pencils, sharpeners, and other classroom needs. Country Director Prof. Christopher Chinedumuije said the programme aims to keep children learning despite the ongoing conflict in the region. Out of the beneficiaries, 6,588 pupils are in a three-month alternative learning programme before moving to formal schools. Parents will also get training to help prevent children from dropping out. Mechanized Borehole Provided for Physically Challenged Brothers in Sunyani.

In Sunyani, five brothers with physical disabilities are celebrating improved access to water thanks to a mechanized borehole donated by the NGO “Ahafo Mine Workers Touching Lives.” The brothers, aged between 27 and 43—Fred Kwarteng, Benjamin Kwarteng, Phillip Awuah, Emmanuel Yeboah, and David Gyan—have faced significant challenges in accessing water, a basic human right, especially given their reliance on others for daily tasks.The borehole aims to alleviate the burden on their caretaker, Abena Asantewaa, who has been caring for the brothers since their mother passed away 25 years ago.
