Afreximbank Backs New Energy Deals to Tackle Africa’s Power Deficit

The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) has reaffirmed its commitment to financing Africa’s energy sector as part of efforts to end energy poverty on the continent by 2030. The bank, which has already made major investments in Nigeria and other African countries, announced its role as a Diamond Partner at this year’s African Energy Week (AEW): Invest in African Energies conference. The event will serve as a platform to boost access to funding for energy projects across the continent. In August 2025, Afreximbank signed agreements worth $1 billion to support energy projects in Nigeria, Malawi, and Zimbabwe, underscoring its mission to drive trade expansion and economic growth.
