Wike’s Faction Takes Control of PDP Headquarters
A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party loyal to Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has taken over the party’s national secretariat at Wadata Plaza in Abuja. The takeover happened ahead of multiple scheduled meetings by various groups within the PDP. The Taminu Turaki-led faction, which recently held a controversial convention in Ibadan, planned to meet at the secretariat in the morning. Simultaneously, the Abdulrahman-led group summoned emergency meetings of the National Executive Committee and Board of Trustees at the same location. Abdulrahman Mohammed, the factional National Chairman, was seen at the secretariat. Heavy security, including police, civil defence, and state security agents, was present around the premises to maintain order and prevent any disturbances.
