Northwest Group Rejects Amnesty Report on Insecurity
The Northwest Democracy Monitoring Group (NDMG) has strongly criticised Amnesty International’s latest report on insecurity in Nigeria, describing it as inaccurate and misleading. In a statement released on Sunday, the group’s chairman, Abubakar Sani, accused Amnesty of presenting “inflated and unsubstantiated” data that could fuel division and unrest in the country. “We categorically challenge the numbers cited in this report, deeming them grossly inflated, misleading, and ultimately inflammatory,” Sani said. He urged Amnesty to reconsider its approach to reporting on Nigeria, noting that such figures undermine efforts to strengthen democracy and stability.
