FG made four emergency cholera vaccine requests as outbreak worsened — WHO

Nigeria’s Federal Government submitted four emergency requests for oral cholera vaccines to the International Coordinating Group on Vaccine Provision as the country battled a worsening outbreak in 2025, a new World Health Organisation report has revealed. As of 26 October, Nigeria had recorded 22,102 suspected cholera cases and 500 deaths, giving a Case Fatality Rate of 2.3 per cent, with 1,320 cases and 33 deaths reported in just the preceding 28 days.​ The report situates Nigeria’s crisis within a broader global surge, noting that 565,404 cases and 7,074 deaths were reported across 32 countries in five WHO regions during the review period. NCDC Clarifies Its N140 Billion 2025 Budget Proposal

The North Central Development Commission (NCDC) has issued a clarification regarding its 2025 budget proposal, which is currently before the National Assembly. In a statement, the Commission's Executive Director of Corporate Services, Mr. James Uloko, confirmed that a proposal of N140 billion was submitted to the Senate Committee on NCDC. This budget is intended to fund the full takeoff of the newly established commission. Nigeria Records 166 Lassa Fever Deaths in 2025, Says NCDC

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has reported that Lassa fever has killed 166 people in the country so far in 2025. According to the NCDC's latest report, the total number of confirmed cases this year has reached 895. This results in a high case fatality rate of 18.5%, meaning approximately 1 in 5 confirmed patients has died. This rate is higher than what was recorded at the same time last year.
