Interior Ministry Denies Assassination Claims on Kissi Agyebeng

The Interior Ministry has denied claims of any assassination attempt on Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng, saying it has no record or report of such an incident. The response follows a statement from the Office of the Special Prosecutor, which alleged that Mr Agyebeng had survived two assassination attempts while carrying out his duties. The claim was mentioned by Samuel Appiah Darko, Director of Strategy, Research and Communications at the OSP, during a Newsfile appearance on December 6, 2025, where he also alleged that he had been handcuffed and beaten by 17 police officers. In its December 8 statement, the Ministry said it takes the allegations seriously because such claims, if confirmed, could undermine the government’s work in fighting corruption. The Ministry noted that initial engagements with Mr Agyebeng indicate that the alleged incidents occurred before this year. It added that […]

Ashanti Regional Deputy Security Coordinator, Alhaji Tapsoba Alhassan, explained: “We saw them offloading the diaper. We sent one of our men to […]

What We Found In late October 2024, following deadly clashes that left at least 16–20 people dead, the Ministry of Interior imposed an expanded curfew (e.g., 6pm–6am), banned arms, and deployed joint military and police units along key routes such as the Bolgatanga–Tamale highway to curb further violence. The Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Stephen Asamoah Boateng, urged community unity, refrained from politicization, and called on traditional leaders to exercise restraint while government agencies enforced peace directives. During the State of the Nation Address in February 2024, President Akufo-Addo emphasized the high security costs draining national budget due to the Bawku dispute. He outlined measures including the […]

He strongly advocated support for the peace talks led by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. “I speak with a heavy heart. I’ve lived in Bawku and know the people personally—both Kusasis and Mamprusis. I consider them family,” Agalga said. He warned that the conflict has spilled over into surrounding areas such as Binduri, Bulenga, and Walewale, making travel increasingly unsafe. “This situation predates the NDC. Even under President Akufo-Addo, it worsened to the point where parts of the region, like the stretch between Bulenga and Walewale, became dangerous. I know someone who was shot after […]
