Omane Boamah & Murtala Mohammed die in Ghana military helicopter crash

A military Z‑9 helicopter carrying eight people, including Defence Minister Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, crashed into a tree and burst into flames at Adansi Akrofuom in the Ashanti Region on the morning of August 6, 2025, shortly after departing Accra en route to Obuasi. According to Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, all onboard are confirmed dead, and national flags will be flown at half-mast in honour of the fallen.
