Tight security as Tinubu heads to NASS to present 2026 budget

Security has been significantly tightened around the National Assembly Complex in Abuja as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu prepares to present the 2026 Appropriation Bill to a joint session of the Senate and House of Representatives. Extra armed policemen have been deployed to all main entry points, including the MOPOL Gate, the Villa Gate and the Annex Gates.​ Access to the complex has been strictly restricted to accredited persons. Those without proper accreditation are being turned back, although the screening and accreditation process has so far been reported as smooth and without incident.​ The usual busy atmosphere at the National Assembly has largely disappeared due to the movement restrictions.
