Ghana Could Import Water if Galamsey Continues, Says Nana Yaa Jantuah

Speaking at a public hearing on utility tariff proposals in Accra, she cautioned that unregulated galamsey activities are heavily polluting the nation’s rivers and lakes, threatening water security for both domestic and industrial use. “We have an issue at hand, and everybody knows what it is, and that is galamsey. Because of galamsey, the Ghana Water Company faces major challenges in treating water for public use. If the situation is not checked, Ghana could soon become water-poor,” she said.
