Eric Opoku Condemns Military’s “Excessive” Operation in Hwidiem
Asunafo South MP Eric Opoku has condemned the military’s response to the attack on members of the NAIMOS taskforce in Hwidiem, calling the follow-up operation excessive and alarming. Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Opoku said he supports holding anyone who assaults security personnel accountable, but argued the military’s actions “went far beyond what is acceptable in a democracy.” “I’m not happy with the excesses in the Hwidiem incident. I have no issue with people facing the law for attacking soldiers or the NAIMOS taskforce, but attacking an entire community and causing the death of an innocent person is unacceptable,” he said.
