Olumide Oworu explains why he joined politics

Actor Olumide Oworu says he ventured into politics because worsening governance in Nigeria directly affects his life and future plans. In an interview on Naija FM, he said he remembers how the country was when he was younger and is worried about raising a family in today’s conditions. He explained that this concern pushed him to move from complaining to actively trying to shape policies. Oworu said he wants to be among those making decisions because whatever laws are passed will impact him and ordinary citizens alike. He added that many current political leaders are already advanced in age, while people in his generation will live with the long term effects of their policy choices. He previously contested for the Lagos State House of Assembly in 2023 under the Labour Party but lost to Desmond Elliott.
