Trump Administration Considers Deporting Salvadoran Man to Eswatini in Immigration Dispute
The Trump administration has floated a new destination for Kilmar Ábrego García, a Salvadoran man at the center of a long-running immigration battle: the southern African kingdom of Eswatini. According to emails obtained by CBS, US immigration officials informed Ábrego García’s lawyers that he could be deported there, reversing last month’s plan to send him to Uganda after he raised concerns about persecution. An officer reportedly said his claims were “hard to take seriously” but agreed not to send him to Uganda “nonetheless.” Eswatini is at least the fourth country considered for his deportation.
