Iran insists on uranium enrichment right, open to confidence-building

Iran has said any renewed nuclear talks with the United States must recognise its right to enrich uranium on its own soil, while signalling readiness to take steps that reassure the world its programme will remain peaceful. Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi told reporters in Dubai that “zero enrichment can never be accepted” and that negotiations should focus on allowing enrichment inside Iran alongside mechanisms to build trust over its civilian nature. North Korea says shameless US is making a mockery of UN

North Korea has accused the United States of abusing the United Nations and trying to turn it into a tool for its own interests. Pyongyang called US actions “shameless” and said Washington was making a mockery of the UN through its behaviour.​ In a statement from its mission to the UN in New York, North Korea condemned reported US plans to hold a briefing on alleged North Korean violations of UN sanctions. Iran insists missile programme is defensive

Iran has declared that its missile programme is strictly defensive and will not be discussed in any negotiations with foreign governments. Foreign ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said the country’s missiles were built to protect Iran’s territory and sovereignty, not to threaten others.​ Baghaei dismissed calls from Western countries to place limits on Iran’s missile activities, insisting that the issue lies entirely within Iran’s national security domain.
