PDP Defeats APC at Defence Minister’s Polling Unit in Jigawa By-Election
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) defeated the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the polling unit of Defence Minister Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar during Saturday’s by-election in Jigawa State. At Unit 001, Babura Kofar Arewa Primary School in the Garki–Babura federal constituency, the PDP secured 308 votes against APC’s 112. The minister, a former governor of Jigawa and senior APC chieftain, cast his vote under heavy security presence but declined to speak to journalists before leaving the venue. Security operatives from the Nigeria Police, Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Immigration Service, and other agencies were stationed across polling units in Babura and Garki LGAs to ensure order.
