Troops kill Boko Haram commander in Borno, recover nearly N40m cash

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have killed a Boko Haram commander and recovered almost N40 million in cash during an operation in Borno State. The Nigerian Army said the troops intercepted a suspicious vehicle believed to be moving funds for the terror group in the north east. According to military sources, the operation followed credible intelligence that insurgents were relocating large sums of money meant for logistics, recruitment and the purchase of weapons. When soldiers attempted to stop the vehicle, the occupants opened fire, leading to a gun battle in which the Boko Haram commander and some of his escorts were neutralised.
