US House to Vote on Budget Ending Longest Shutdown in History

A decisive vote is expected in the US House of Representatives on Wednesday to approve a budget bill that could end the country’s longest-ever government shutdown, now in its 42nd day. Lawmakers are returning to Washington to consider a Senate-approved package that would fund federal agencies for two months. Republican leaders say they are confident the measure will pass despite their slim majority, while top Democrats have vowed to oppose it. President Donald Trump has indicated he will sign the bill once it reaches his desk. “We’re opening up our country,” he said during a Veterans Day event in Arlington, Virginia. “Should have never been closed.” The shutdown, which began on October 1, has left one million federal workers without pay, disrupted food assistance programs, and caused major air travel delays. Too bad I’m not allowed to run for third term – Trump

US President Donald Trump has acknowledged that he cannot seek a third term in office, saying the US Constitution bars him from doing so despite growing calls from supporters for another run in 2028. Trump, who returned to the White House in January, is now serving his second term after his first stint from 2017 to 2021. Trump has often joked about extending his time in power and has displayed red hats with the slogan “Trump 2028” on his desk in the Oval Office. Some of his supporters […]

This time, however, he says circumstances are different. President Donald Trump and GOP leaders need at least seven Senate Democrats to break a filibuster and avoid a shutdown after September 30. Republicans have put forward a clean funding extension through November 21, including $30 million to boost lawmaker security. But Schumer and his colleagues argue that Trump’s Medicaid cuts, efforts to weaken Congress’ spending authority, and the looming expiration of Obamacare subsidies for 22 million Americans demand a […]
