FG unveils new rules for online pharmacy services
The Federal Government has moved to tighten control of online medicine sales with the launch of a National Electronic Pharmacy Policy and Strategic Implementation Plan. Officials say the policy is designed to regulate electronic pharmacy services, curb unsafe drug sales on digital platforms and expand access to quality assured medicines. Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Ali Pate, said the rise of digital platforms has transformed many sectors but left the pharmaceutical space fragmented, with limited oversight of online drug vendors. He explained that the new framework aims to modernise healthcare delivery so that Nigerians can get safe, affordable medicines regardless of where they live.
