Health Director Raises Alarm Over Shortage of Medical Doctors in Savannah Region.
Dr. Josephat Ana-Immwine Nyuzaghl, the Savannah Regional Director of the Ghana Health Service, has expressed concerns about the insufficient number of medical doctors in the region. Speaking at the annual performance review meeting held on March 20, 2024, at the Catholic Guest House in Damongo, he highlighted the ongoing issue despite the addition of six new doctors in 2023.Dr. Nyuzaghl pointed out that the doctor-to-population ratio in 2023 was one doctor for every 22,699 residents, revealing significant challenges still faced by the region’s healthcare system.
