Cameroon Opposition Leader Tchiroma Claims Election Victory
Cameroon’s opposition candidate Issa Tchiroma Bakary has declared victory in Sunday’s presidential election, challenging the long-standing rule of President Paul Biya, who has held power for 43 years. Tchiroma announced his self-proclaimed win on Facebook, saying, “Our victory is clear. It must be respected.” He urged the government to “accept the truth of the ballot box” or risk plunging the nation into unrest.
