Security emergency: Army freezes retirement of officers

The Nigerian Army has temporarily suspended statutory and voluntary retirements for selected categories of officers following the nationwide security emergency declared by President Bola Tinubu.​ The move comes after over 600 mass abduction cases were recorded in November alone, including the kidnapping of more than 300 students in Niger State, 38 worshippers in Kwara and 25 students in Kebbi, prompting the President to order expanded recruitment and large scale deployments.​ In an internal memo dated December 3 and signed by Maj Gen E. I.
