NPP’s Masawudu Osman Assaulted at Akwatia By-Election
The third National Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Masawudu Osman, was allegedly assaulted in Akwatia during the ongoing by-election. Adom TV/FM’s Chief Jerry Forson, reporting from the constituency, said the incident occurred at the Akwatia Main Lorry Station, which hosts two polling centres. The cause of the confrontation remains unclear, but the alleged assailant is reported to have ties to supporters of National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Vice Chairman, Chief Sofo Azorka. Confirming the incident to Adom News, Alhaji Osman said he has officially lodged a complaint with the Ghana Police Service and is awaiting their response. He urged calm and discouraged any form of retaliation, stressing that although both he and Azorka hail from Tamale and hold traditional titles, peace must prevail.
