Fire guts 10 shops at Oshodi Arena market
A fire on Tuesday evening destroyed about 10 shops at the popular Arena Market in Bolade, Oshodi, Lagos State. The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the incident in a statement by its Controller General, Margaret Adeseye. The agency said it received a distress call at about 5:50 p.m. and deployed firefighting units immediately. Responders arrived at the scene within five minutes, at around 5:55 p.m. Adeseye explained that the fire affected a section of the market made up of five 40 foot container shops arranged in two rows, bringing the total number of damaged shops to 10. She said the affected shops were mainly used to store and sell clothing materials stocked in bales.
