Lomé Hosts BlueInvest Africa 2025 Forum

Lomé welcomed the third edition of BlueInvest Africa on October 15–16, 2025, marking the first time the event has been hosted in a French-speaking African country. Organized by the European Commission in partnership with the Togolese government, the forum serves as a major platform connecting investors, innovators, and entrepreneurs driving Africa’s blue economy. Following previous editions in the Seychelles and Kenya, this year’s event brought together over 200 participants, including EU officials, financial institutions, business leaders, and 24 African startups showcasing innovative solutions in maritime and coastal development. The initiative aims to foster sustainable investments and strengthen Africa–Europe cooperation in the management of marine resources. Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire Join Forces for Maritime Security and Boundary Reaffirmation.

In a collaborative effort to maintain and secure territorial waters, Ghana and Côte d'Ivoire have committed to joint inspections of their international maritime boundaries, aligning with the 2017 International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) ruling. The two nations aim to prevent unauthorized exploitation of marine resources and bolster economic and environmental protections.The agreement, formalized through a communique following a two-day technical meeting in Accra, will see joint naval patrols begin next year, overseen by the Ghana Boundary Commission (GhBC) and Côte d’Ivoire Boundary Commission (CNFCI).
