First batch of US troops arrive Nigeria for anti terror mission

The first batch of United States military personnel has arrived in Nigeria to support new joint operations against terrorist groups in the country’s north. Officials say the deployment will focus on intelligence, training and advisory support for Nigerian forces rather than direct combat. Around 200 American troops are expected to take part in the mission, with the initial wave of about 100 soldiers landing in Maiduguri, Borno State. Shettima says Borno mosque attack will not shake Nigeria’s security resolve

Police deploy 1000 officers after Maiduguri mosque bombing

The Borno State Police Command has deployed more than 1,000 officers across Maiduguri and other key locations in the state after the bomb attack on a mosque that killed five people and injured 35 others. The explosion happened on Wednesday evening at Al Adum Mosque in the Gamboru Market area of Maiduguri while worshippers were observing the Maghrib prayer. The Borno State Police Command has deployed special security teams across Maiduguri ahead of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s visit to the state. 3 Children Die Inside Parked Car, Another Drowns in Borno

The Borno State Police Command has begun an investigation into the deaths of three children found lifeless inside a parked vehicle in Maiduguri, the state capital. The victims—three-year-old Anwar, one-year-five-month-old Fatima (popularly called Mama), and five-year-old Ahmed Muhammad—were reported missing on Tuesday after being allegedly lured away by an unidentified woman. Their father, Babagana Zanna Jaridama, a social media commentator and supporter of Governor Babagana Zulum, raised alarm when his children disappeared and even offered to surrender himself in exchange for their release. NDLEA Seizes Over 500,000 Opioid Pills in Raids Across Four States

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted 502,280 opioid pills in coordinated raids across Nasarawa, Gombe, Kano, and Maiduguri, the agency announced on Sunday in Abuja.
